Ok, I upgraded to the xf86 4.2.1...i made a backup of the old x11r6 and x11 dirs, i ran the install script...i did was the install file said to do...i did it for both root and my user name...and now...I can't log in from my user name, just root. when x starts from my name, its just a screen with the X cursor...i can switch display sizes, but for some reason the gui wont start. any ideas?

OH, also, when kde starts in root i get an error message:
"Sound server fatal error:
/tmp/mcop-Helen is not owned by user"

i'm assuming thats because i'm logged in as root, and not my un, but still, seems odd, i thought root had ownership of everything by default.

Thanks for any help!
