ok, so, i tried to update my video card drivers. I was under the impression that it was using an nVidia chipset, so i downloaded and installed the files nv said to get, i restarted the x server and now all it does is flash, like the monitor is turning on and off. I had this problem before when i tried to set the resolution higher than 1024x768, and at the time i just chose to format and reinstall...however, thats not very condusive to learning, SO, i'm trying to get this figured out.

i set my runlevel to 3 as default, then i ran setup --> x configuration, and it tells me the video card that is set, but i can't change it. i can change the monitor type, the resolution, just not the video card.
any ideas? hints? help in general?
Thanks! :)

pls use the follwing commands so that you will get a window to work with atleast
XFree86 -configure
then run x with the option,
startx -xf86config ~/XF86Config.new

other wise use xf86config and try to configure things manually
