I have just got a new laptop and installed SUSE 9.0 Pro on it. After the install I tested the wifi card but it didn't work. So I went and downloaded the latest madwifi drivers as it is an Atheros based card. The drivers compiled and installed with no problems. But when trying to connect to my AP I couldn't get an IP with DHCP, assigning one statically didn't work either. So I disabled the WEP encryption on the AP and I got an IP through DHCP. But there is still a problem. The connection that I get keeps dropping off and is very slow. I usually wait about 30 seconds before I get a webpage to load. But once a download gets going it finishes quickly.

Also, although this is most likely unrelated, my cat5 connection won't even connect to a web server. But it, the cat5 connection, won't drop out when transfering files within my LAN, like my wireless does. About the only thing I can think of is to upgrade the kernel to the latest 2.6 version. Either that or change some wireless values to make it more friendly with the AP. Any other ideas will be welcome.
