Comment:
Have a salvaged PC, dual booting XP/RH9, with a "Dell Data fax Modem RAS Async Adapter" that worked well with XP. After loading RH9, niether program could connect.
I dumped RH9, and with XP the Modem is fine.
Could you recommend a few good Modems for Dual boot systems Please.

US Robotics 5610B.
It works great with either. There are more of course. What you should look for is a hardware modem, not a winmodem. Winmodems use the windows operating system to perform the modem functions. Hardware modems use the components installed on them as the modem.
That said, a hardware modem is better for windows as well, because you won't bog down your system using your OS for something hardware should be doing.

Summary: Hi Could anyone recommend a good hardware modem for a dual-boot Win\Linux machine? US Robotics 56K* Performance Pro Modem is the one candidate I'm considering… Are there any others? Thanks in advance!...
Summary: I don't know about your perticular modem, but Linux does not support WIN/Software modems. WIN/Software modems are cheap modems that were designed to work under windows and use the computers processor...
