hi guys
i downloaded and installed the latest version of wine from
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wine/wine-20030911-1rh9winehq.i386.rpm?download
but its giving problems. its just not working. every time i try to run some application using wine it starts searching for it in drive A.
Here is what is shows me
===============================
root@localhost root]# wine /mnt/cdrive/program\ files/mirc/mirc.exe
Could not stat /mnt/floppy (No such file or directory), ignoring drive A:
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0027), starting debugger...
Could not stat /mnt/floppy (No such file or directory), ignoring drive A:
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0029), starting debugger...
Could not stat /mnt/floppy (No such file or directory), ignoring drive A:
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 002b), starting debugger...
===================================And it goes on doing this forever, I had to do ctrl+z to stop it manually. I have edited /etc/wine/wine.conf and to the path or drive C , i changed it to /mnt/cdrive (where cdrive is the directory in /mnt where my drive C is mounted).I also changed the paths to windows directories in /etc/wine/wine.conf for example it was c:\windows, i changed it to c:\winnt ( because i am using windows 2000). But still problem seems to be there.
Any one has any idea whats going on?

Firstly, I don't think it's recommended to
run wine and win2000 together. 95/98 is
better otherwise don't bother pointing
wine.conf to a windoze install. Have you
tried commenting out the A drive
altogether?
Have you actually run the mirc setup
through wine or are you just trying to run
a previously installed one on your windows
drive?
Downloading and compiling wine from source
increases performance.
Try downloading either the source or
binaries from the official site: http://
www.winehq.org/
If you want to run office apps and
photoshop, get codeweavers crossover office
(which is a modified version of wine) from
www.codeweavers.com
If you want to run games, download winex
(from www.transgaming.com).
Ctrl & Z doesn't stop a process, it just
suspends it. To stop it use Ctrl & C. If
you do suspend it with Ctrl & Z, you can
then type "bg" to put the process into the
BackGround and carry on running (a bit like
doing "command &"). You can now carry on
using the terminal as usual. When you want
to bring the process back to the
ForeGround, type "fg".
