Comment:

I have two desktops, one with Windows 2000 and the other with Kubuntu 7.10. I am trying to make them communicate over a null modem serial cable. I am using the minimal pin setting, i.e, pin 2 to 3, pin 3 to 2 and pin 5 to 5.
I wrote a simple code on the Linux end that tries to send a string to the Windows end, but nothing happens! The windows end has HyperTerminal running listening to the COM port, but it doesn't seem to read anything from the other end.
Then I tried minicom on the Linux end assuming something could be wrong with my code, but still nothing appears on the other end. The problem is both ways.

Could anyone tell me if I am missing something here? Do I need to use more than just the 3 pin null modem configuration?
