I'm about to replace my current computer (win95) with a dual boot machine that will run linux. It will probably come with an internal modem for Windows use that will not be compatible with Linux. Will my current US Robotics external modem, a 56-K sportster model, be able to work with Linux? US Robotics support site implies it will, as do some other questions I've searched on this site, but I just want some specific reassurance that this will probably work and that I won't have to order a second Linux-compatible modem with my new PC. Thank you.

I'm answering you from a Linux computer which uses a US-Robotics 56k sportser flash external serial modem, that means that this modem is perfectly supported. If you use Mandrake this modem is automatically detected and configured, I think the same with red-hat or similar. Bye
