HI All I have been using mandrake 10 for about a year and have tried several other distros. I have been reading this forum for abot 3 yrs now. Lots of people want to know what is the best distro, but what I would like to know is what everyone is actually using? Thanks. Richard

I'm using MEPIS as my main OS quad booting with Knoppix and a DSL HD install plus w2k which is now only occasionaly used for VPN to work.
I also occasionaly use DSL in a virtual macine in windows at work and DSL on my USB mem stick.
Gentoo is next on the list to try then slackware and then another attempt at LFS.

Slackware on my workstation and servers at work with another server running debian. I've pushed out Mandrake to a couple of users here too, everybody else here runs windoze 2000...for the time being!;) I've got phlak installed on a laptop I use for networking, and a whole bunch of computers running clusterknoppix, which I use for seti@home.
I haven't got a PC setup at home at the moment (I've recently moved), but one runs...you've guessed it...slackware and the other has an old mandrake install on it but I use it really just for storage.
One mate of mine swears by gentoo, another couple suse.

gentoo = my personal desktop. extremely powerful and is educational to install. Emerge is excelent.
suse = distro which is powerful yet doesn't scare off windows based coworkers too quickly. YAST is also nice.
freebsd = my work horse...ssh, snort, backup storage, firewall, etc...all running on my legacy p2 233mhz with 256 ram.
tiger (os x) = my new toy. the best looking gui for unix yet! that is a joke, but it is sharp and powerful.
