I am new to Linux from Windows
I want to have your suggestion of a good easy Linux distribution?
Thanks

I just installed mandrake 8.1, installs easily, lots of nice gui utils for setting up your system, kde 2.2.1 looks really great... going to install red hat 7.1 on my other system shortly to compare, but I here red hat and mandrake are very similar.
That's my opinion anyway.Damien.

From what I hear Redhat isn't very secure. Mandrake is basically a more user freindly version of redhat. SuSE is what I use it's more secure. But if you're looking for the most user freindly I'd go with Mandrake. I really couldn't even guess at which distribution has to more support out there as far as drivers go.

the easiest distro for a beginner is redhat, corel or mandrake. For security, use slackware. the best gui out there that looks similar to windows is kde but takes a long time to load. The gui system is painfully slow but the desktop environments look very good.

For a Newbie- Mandrake, definitely. During install, you can choose your level of "security paranoia", and if you do a custom install (I recommend doing so with any distro), you can install any number of desktop environments and window managers. After you're up and running, you can switch between them until you settle on the one that works for you.
