Where do I install MAKE?

I don't have make installed, how do I install it, I read some instruction on the net, but I don't know where to be in the shell to put these commands.

Why don't you install make from the Mandrake CD. Mount the cd (CD1), change to the following dir: /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS then type: rpm -i make-3.79.1-5mdk.i586.rpm
The package name/version might be different for Mandrake 8. The package name/version used in the example above is taken from Mandrake 7.2
Ps You must have su/root permission to install the package.

As I've read both of your "make" posts, I agree that you are likely to need more than just the make RPM installed (although Jay does tell you how to install it). My suggestion is to reinstall Mandrake and install the development packages or to be safe - install everything. That's what I always try to do. Then, you will run into this sort of problem less often. If you don't want to install all the development stuff, look for an RPM equivalent of that which you are attempting to install. Then, you'll have the binaries and won't need to compile. Good luck.
