Wait.

SUSE likes to sell the newest versions for a while before they put it on the ftp server.

I downloaded it fromt heir ftp server last night, the full 8.0 using the Smart FTP program (very fast ftp downloader!). If you have an ftp proggie, then enter ftp-linux.cc.gatech.edu/pub/linux/distributions/suse/suse/i386/current in the address field, then connect. It should connect to the server and you can find the file you need, start downloading! HTH!

You cannot download Suse 8.0 full right now. On the ftp servers, you should be able to get an iso of the live evaluation (live-eval-8.0.iso). However, it will probably be towards the end of May before you can install the full version of Suse 8.0 from the ftp servers (source: http://www.distrowatch.com/). However, that is not the iso download; that will be an install via ftp.

Okay, why is it that suse will only allow installs from the net? It doesnt make sence. I checked out mandrakes site lastnight to get a copy to try out, they want you to join some service to down load a free copy, trick is, you have to pay to join. Found it from some university ftp server but after the install it turned out to be a waste of time. On top of that it seems that Suse just wants to make is hard to get their products, which to me seems wrong. Question is this, why are they doing this? RedHat is the only one that is a major seller that still offers their product 100% free. Anyone have a clue? THanks. Sean

mandrake is completly free to download you
don't have to join the club just click on
the second link on the download page.it
says: I'm already a member of the Club or
plan on registering soon. You click on this
link and you go right to the download page.
Suse wants to cash in so they make it hard
to download the os, the sad thing is that
this is the wave of the future, these linux
os companies are all going to start
charging in the future. The trick they are
going to use is, charge for their installer,
thus keeping the people that have the know
how, or the time, to download and install the
os with out the slick installer. This keeps
the open source nature of linux intact, and
the many part time (unpaid) developers
happy, but may spell the end of linux as a
desktop for good.

Hey, man, i think you are all a piece a stupid web worms. itīs obvious that people will start charging!!! no one likes working for free, man!!!
But, on the other hand, itīs worth paying for suse... itīs better than red hat or mandrake. i know because iīve tried the three of them...
good luck.

PD: please donīt forget visiting my homepage... itīs in spanish for now, but soon it will be in english too. Itīs worth viewing.

The only way to download SuSE 8.0 is to use a P2P software, like eDonkey2000.
There's always a guy who has this distrib.
Good luck !

PS : SuSE is the best distrib i ever see ! That's why IBM choose RedHat for all their Linux Solutions for the low level and SuSE for a high level (servers).

Hi!

Someone know how to make an iso image of this SUSE. I mean that if I download it all, then how do I know which folder goes on which of the 8 cd's?
