What is the best Linus to run on my computer?
The only thing I have on it is DOS.
I was wondering if there is a Linux with a Windows interface. If so can you send all answers to plitwa@yahoo.com
Thanks
One more thing, can Linux be installed from disks?

Hello-
There isnt a "best" linux. There are many
factors that go into making a certain
distobution good. All of them have their
strong points. I would recommend reading
up on them and choosing one that is best
for you. Some of the popular distro's areslackware
redhat
suse
mandrake
debianCheck them out, and see what you like about
each. If your a new user, redhat is my
recommendation. That is not to say that
you couldnt use another, because with a
little reading they are all easy enough to
install. And as for if you can install
from disks, many of them are very large
files, but there are distros of the
operation system that can be run from a 3.5
in floppy. 1 floppy. That is pretty
amazing. Not a whole lot of features but
still. As for a windows interface, you are
referring to XWindows. It is a GUI for
linux. XWindows can be configured to look
almost exactly like windows. The two most
popular desktop environments for x are KDE
and GNOME. Just a warning, Xwindows and a
desktop manager will significantly increase
your necessary install space. Hope this
helps-Ryan
