I'm a newbie to Linux. Can u recommend some sites or book that teaches Linux and its commands? Hopefully they are as easy to understand as a Microsoft Windows books.

The best of Linux is in the documentation. I know, this seems boring, but really that is how it is.
Every distro and shell has its own way. So you really need to pick.
The best way to learn is to try to do something - anything. Then look for a howto or just figure it out based on some Usenet posts, a few random google leads, and your own experience.
The linux documentation project is a great source. You have man pages, howto's, and even books. Amazing really.
http://www.tldp.org/Here is somewhat of a good list for commands:
http://www.onlamp.com/linux/cmd/You can also go to bookpool or amazon and get a book about a given shell (bash, korn, etc.). You should learn what to do with the command line.
But go read some of the books at ldp first.
Do not waste too much time trying distros. Just pick one and play with it. You are never going to find the perfect distro, and you are rarely ever going to get an objective opinion (you really have to formulate one yourself).
Have fun.
