Add at least another 64 Meg of memory (and I'd at least double your hard disk space, as well), then you can run almost any distro. Otherwise, almost any distro will be slow (and you may problems installing what you want on there, due to the small amount of disk space.) I run Mandrake 6.1 (circa 1999) on similar specs, but I certainly wouldn't run the newest Mandrake on it.

What do you plan on doing with this PC? Games? Browsing the internet?

Try Damn Small Linux, it's only a 50Mb download and might be ok when HD installed on a PC with those specs. I ran it on a P200 with 64Mb a couple of years ago.

I too suggest Damn Small Linux @ damnsmalllinux.org New version 0.9.0

It will also run on a p166/32mb ram live. Dreadfully slow though. And as for borwsers Dillo is ok but i'd pick up a copy of Firefox for it.
ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/damnsmall/

2 gig hard drive ought to be plenty for a beginner with damn small.

It also has cd burning software inc.

My only real complaint so far is browser. Going to try and install it on a hard drive and computer with same specs soon and see how to install firefox. Check out the mydsl and mydsl testing folders too.
