What will it take for RedHat to switch to nvi?

Vim is not one of the better VIs, sorry RedHat. It's too big and tries to do too much, plus I don't need to be made to feel guilty for using the editor when it's the only one of its kind on my distribution (I truly feel for the innocent Ugandan population, but get rid of the splash screen already)! Nvi is smaller, cleaner and quite frankly has a beter feel. I am disappointed to find that RedHat hasn't changed to this version (neither has Caldera, Mandrake, etc.). Give us a better vi, damnit!

You do not have to use things that come with your distro. get the packages of whatever you need or whatever you like to use. nvi rpms ara available at rpmfind.net
