Comment: My friend wants to setup a webserver for a domain. He has xdls but does not have a static IP. He halso has a router. He wants to user a dynamic IP program to get a static ip from one of those free things where it updates it and you get a static IP that way. Problem is, he said it uses ezipudate or something like that and this causes the IP to become 10.x.x.x from his router. He doesnt know how to get the IP from the router. I am thinking the router gets the IP first and then gives it to the computers. So basicly, he wants is ISP IP from the router to work with the updates for the IP program that will give him a static IP he needs to host a domain.

Reply: (edit)Ohhhh you or he probably missunderstood something overthere!! You will never get a fix iP!!! Only your ISP may assign a fix IP. You are probably talking about ddns service. They will map your domain name to your dynamic IP!! 10.0.x.x is not a valid wan ip adress. It;'s reserved to LAN addressing. However, on your router, you must map tcp port 80 to the correct LAN IP address in order to route http trafic correctly.
