curently laptop has xp but can load linux easy enough does any one know of an open source project that would allow me to use my laptop with webcam and mic as a baby monitor...ive seen them at the store and figured heck i allready have the hardware but dont know of any such projects or distros

not trying to discrouge you from linux, but you could just use xp and net meeting or aim or yahoo or prolly the software that came with the web cam. mine came with a motion detector, timer, all kinds of vid capture options.
