As a sample: there is a (fast) server of name [server] (SuSE 8.1) with users letīs say [aaa@server] and [bbb@server], and there is also (slow) x-terminal of name [terminal] (SuSE 8.1). [server] and [terminal] are parts of the same LAN, network cards are FastEthernet, switch is FastEthernet, too. There is no problem to get connection from [terminal] to [server] through XDMCP, then log in to e.g. [aaa@server] user and work on many applications, itīs funny.
However there is one problem: somebody is logged in to [aaa@server] user JUST AT the [server], he made a dial-up connection to the internet by wvdial and is browsing actively, probably by mozilla. Other one is logged in to [bbb@server] user from [terminal] through XDMCP, he can see the [server] has a live internet connection and he would like to surf, too. He run the web browser - mozilla or konqueror - write an http://address and after some seconds he get stuck with the web browser, which has to be killed externaly. It leaves on a desktop strange empty window named as "pane" which is not able to rid itself off.
Please, what part of the system is suspicious? Network cards, switch, cables, wvdial, XDMCP, web browsers? Dunno.
