since it sounds like you have one partition for windows, you'll have to divide up your hardrive for linux. You can start by getting a copy of partition magic. You'll need to divide up your existing single partition into two partitions. One windows and one linux partition. Once your hardrive is partitioned you'll just have to run the linux installer.

Hi,

If you are going to install Mandrake, get the latest which is 8.1. I would recommend this as a very good distribution. Also, you don't need a partitioning program as Linux Mandrake will do that for you while you are going through the setup.

Hey all, the easiest way for triple boot win9x , linux, and 2000 or xp is put win 9x on c: and then put 2000 or xp finally put linux and when asked installling linux do custom install and choose to load lilo in the superblock boot partition example-- /dev/hda5 ,6,7 whatever not the mbr hda1 then dwonload BootPart 2.20 from http://www.winimage.com/bootpart.htm its freeware so you can add any partition on the bootmenu for 2000 so you add the linux partition and then can have linux as one of the boot options. real easy proggie to use just read the instructions pretty automatic.

I am glad to come across this website. Recently I bought a computer with windows xp OS. I talked to the CompUSA guys and they said I have to buy Partitionmagic and then install Linux after partitoning the hard disk. However, it didn't work. Then I went and told them what happened. They told me to buy OS Commander 7.0. It is also not working. The Linux I bought was SUSE. Now, it is on my shelf. After I read some of the responses to a person whio has the same problem as I had I am now thinking to buy Mandrake and Install it. This is the second time I heard about Mandrake. Thank you guys.
