I am trying to uninstall a failed install of VMware. However, after trying to uninstall it and having the system crash, I am forced to do a manual removal of vmware.
Following the directions on VMware's homepage I can remove all the files but if I try to remove the RPM database entry, it will quit with the error:
error: %preun(VMwareWorkstation-3.2.0-2230) scriptlet failed, exit status 127
So, I have completed everything that I can with my knowledge, I'm a new linux user and I have picked up a fair amount of the Linux commands etc quite well, I just have no idea now how to manually remove the entry since the rpm system refuses to because of some error. I would assume it's corrupted on that entry.
If I try to install VMware again, it will tell me it's already installed.
Should I try forcing an upgrade and replacing of files? Any ideas would be great, thanks.

You could try forcing an install/upgrade and then uninstalling it....or perhaps an "rpmdb --rebuild" might help
