virtual ethernet card without a phy

HOLDEN I've a computer with redhat 9 installed. It hasn't a physical ethernet card inside. I need to emulate a virtual ethernet card with an arbitrary physical address (MAC).Is it possible? How can i do? Thanks in advance!

hi,
in linux is it possible or not, that i don't know. my suggestion is install win 200 prof and install vmware workstation, install redhat linux in vmware. by installing vmware u will get 10 virtual adapters, in that one adapter u can configure it to use linux
