Hi, I wonder if someone can possibly stop me from tearing the rest of my hair out!...am in the process of setting up a webpage i am hosting from home, I have setup Apache,Mysql and PHP and am running "Mambo" to create the site.....all this is setup and the apache test page can be viewed remotely, but, I am unable to view the webpage via its url on the other machines on my network.....i can view the demo page by typing the local ip i.e. 192.168.....when trying to access the page via its url I get the error message "the document contains no data", i have tried both firefox and I.E and neither will view the page locally...i am using a belkin "G" router to recieve and share adsl, and have had no other browsing problems...
Any help would be much appreciated...

Do you have a public IP that your webserver is on? Check the firewall rules on your router to see if it is denying traffic between the local LAN and DMZ (which is normally a goood thing). If you have an old modem and a dial-up account you could try I bet it would work....

cheers for replying!,
am not using DMZ as it leaves the system open.
Have opted to use the firewall/routers "virtual servers",this is done by giving the ip/addy of the service you want to "connect" with, which ports you want to use and the internal ip of the server. It seems to work ok as everyone i asked could see the page ok, I did switch over to DMZ to check, but still get the same problem....although i have tried the page through "anonymouse" CGI-proxy and can see the page ok,but not sure what that tells me,apart from or where to go from here, yep it does work via dialup, but for testing i would like to view it via its url on a machine in the network, thanks again, at least the info gave me somthing else to try....

I still think its a problem with your router and its firewall rules....how much control do you have over them?
You could cheat and put the FQDN and local IP into local hosts files....eg:
192.168.0.10 www.mysite.com server.domain
Now both the local name server.domain as well as www.mysite.com will resolve to the local address 192.168.0.10
