Comment:

Any one know where the config file is for the default behaviour of vi? I'm using Mandrake 9.0 with KDE. I don't see anything in my home directory and haven't seen anything in /etc yet either.

Thanks
Don

I believe that I found it:

/usr/share/vim/vimrc

There is also a gvimrc file in this directory.

In redhat
for vim(gvim) you can create a .vim(.gvim) in your home directory.
note that by default there isn't any .vim in your home directory you should create it.
I believe mandrake is similar to redhat in this case.
