Upgrading from Ubuntu to Fiesty

I am running Ubuntu Edgy right now and I am very happy with it. When Fiesty comes out I will have to make the choice to upgrade or not. I know most Linux Gurus prefer a fresh install. Which I understand. My question is: If I make a copy of my home folder then do a fresh install of Fiesty. Can I copy my home folder over from my Edgy install to the new Fiesty install and have my old settings etc work ok?

You can copy the contents of your personal folder under home such as /home/tom to another media, and then copy the content to the new personal folder: /home/xxx, but I don't think you can copy the home folder.
I have the latest Feisty 7.04 beta installed as my second operating system along side XP in dual boot mode. IT'S GREAT!!
I have a Toshiba P105-S6147 laptop that came installed with Vista. I removed that and installed XP Pro as my base OS. The sound didn't work in XP, but I fixed that by installing Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture driver, and Conextant sound driver OS2006203a. Found all driver info on DriverPacks.net forum. http://forum.driverpacks.net/index.php
The sound doesn't work in Feisty yet, but I'm confident the Ubuntu team will fix it. Tom
