Hi,
In order to upgrade from sendmail 8.12.5 to 8.12.7, I compiled sendmail 8.12.7 without any problems using the instructions on README files.
Then I ran the command:
rpm -qi sendmail -> still ver 8.12.5
Please advice

rpm -qi sendmail will show the old version because you haven't installed it by rpm. You can download binary format (i.e rpm) to have a exact version display.
