Is this the only operating system on the drive? What size is/are the partition(s)??

You should be able to do that during installation of another operating system, some you may have to do it manually. Just delete all the partitions mandrake is on (inc swap) and create new ones for the new OS. Format them, install the new OS and then set up a new boot loader in your MBR and you're done.
