HI ALL,
i installed suse linux 7.1, (besides my win98)
after reinstalling win 98, i can not access my linux partition,
even the lilo boot floppy has given way!
i can of course format the linux partition, it, but i have some files on linux which i want to copy to win partition if possible.
am told there are 'readers' available on the net which can read or rather access linux file system through DOS or win.
pse tell me where i can get them from.
i will be really greatful if u can mail me and help.
thanks in advance,
Kailas.

Get this bootdisk:
http://www.toms.net/rbBoot from it and log on as root.
Mount the partitions you will need most likely just the root partition and boot partition:mount /dev/hda6 /mnt
mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/bootEdit the lilo.conf which would be /mnt/etc/lilo.conf since you mounted everything in /mnt. Make sure you have an entry for windows and for linux.
Once you are done run lilo with the following command:
chroot /mnt /sbin/liloAfter this you should get a lilo boot menu so you can boot both systems at startup.
If you get stuck try reading the documentation at: http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/LILO-crash-rescue-HOWTO.html
Mik

There is also the explore2fs application which allows you to use your linux partition under windows. You can find it by searching at google or altavista.
But be carefull not to upload any file, cause this may damage the ext2 partition. The application is only for reading an ext2fs.
