Hi,

I have written a bash script to perform some file operations on a flash memory card in a production environment where the card will have to be removed/reinserted many times. The problem I am having is the errors/warnings when the flash card is removed.

When I type umount //media/Lexar I get the following message:

umount: /media/Lexar is not in the fstab (and you are not root)

So the umount command is not working.

Is there anyway to umount this device such that I don't get errors/warnings when I remove the device?

Ideally, I would like to supress all automatic mounting also so I could control this in my script also. When the card is inserted a cache message appears on the screen and the operator has to press the enter key to get the prompt back. This will confuse/slow down the operator.

Thanks

Read up on the fstab file. I can't figure out how the fstab file works for removeable storage - are there enries in the fstab file for removeable storage items?
