Ugly Fonts in X RedHat 7.3

Comment:
The fonts in Gnome and KDE windows are fine, it's mainly fonts on webpages and in word processing apps. They look blocky and like they arn't anti-aliased or some thing. But they look the same in KDE with the anti-alias on. I have used Mandrake, and didn't have this problem at all. I've read that it may be a setting in the freetype server. But I havn't been able to find much more on the problem.
Some applications, eg Open Office, look awful in any Linux distribution. Windows fonts can be used in Linux and may be better in some cases. A question of keep looking for new ideas for improvement perhaps.
