Subject: Ubuntu Manual Partition MapOS: OSXCPU/Ram: 1GBModel/Manufacturer: Apple Powerbook G4 |
Comment: Hello everyone, I am new too linux and am in desperate need off help! I have just tried too install Ubuntu on my Powerbook G4 and managed too get too the manual partition map where i selected the "/" and the "swap" partition i wanted too use, but when i click next too proceed too the installation i get given an yaboot error. I know this has somting too do with the the Ubuntu booting on my mac, but i dont know what too do. I have checked the the web, but i keep getting confused what i have too do. I am running OSX 10 on my main partition and still want too keep this as my main partition. I have made plenty off space on my drive too instal Ubuntu, but it is less than the main OSX partition, hence the reason i cant use the automatic instal direction in the installer! Thank for any help in advanced!

Reply: (edit)I'm new to ubuntu, I know nothing about osx10. First I would partition & format to ext3. I think you can use less than about 6GB. Run the live cd, (if you can on Powerbooks) When you go to install, it should see both partitions, get it to use all of the ext3 partition & you won't have to worry about manual partitioning. Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.
