I've set up my laptop to dual-boot with XP & Ubuntu. I want to change the boot order to load Windows as default but looking at the GRUB loader it doesn't appear to list this as an option, only the order of the Linux choices - recovery etc. (1) can it be done? & (2) would someone give me an exact walkthrough please?
It was written for windoze 9x but should also work for XP.
Did ubuntu not pick up your windoze install during installation?

Thanks for reply. Yes it's all set up ok & it picked up XP but my wife uses the laptop & forgets to choose XP when using it- boots into Linux & she gives up so I want XP to be the default OS rather than Ubuntu.

Right, so you have the option to boot XP in your brub menu....you just want to make it the default. Add/eddit this in your grub.conf: default=0 The above will boot the first in the list as default, change it to "default=1" to boot the second etc. Or you could edit the order things are listed in that file so that XP is the first one.
