Hi,
I'm a Linux Newbie and I'm having a problem. I have three Operating Systems on my computer: Win98, Win2K, and Redhat 6.2.
I installed Redhat 6.2 on it's own Linux native partition on my second hard drive where Win2K is also installed.
My computer boots with Win2K boot manager and I must boot Linux from floppy disk which is a pain in the #$&@@!
LILO is installed on the first sector of my Linux boot sector.
I tried using Boot magic boot Linux but it just hangs at says " LI " and does not boot.
Can someone help me with a simple answer.

K, ill explain what I did, though I am also a newbie .. :)
I installed win2k, win98, and Corel Linux .. I have them all booting with LILO - I am not at my own puter right now, so I cant give you exacts (Can be found anywhere on the net, though) But basically, just boot linux, and edit your ETC\lilo.conf file ... Add what you need (Info can be found on net) - then run linux console, and type LILO ... Then type lilo /? to learn all the basics ..... Install lilo to the boot sector, and have fun. I would explain more, but I am drunk. I will reply in a few days when I return to my own PC and sober up. :)

What ballzach was absolutely correct, you need to install LILO to the Master Boot Record. However, you will need to edit your /etc/lilo.conf file to look like this:
#Begin
#Windows 98
other=/dev/hda1
label=win
table=/dev/hda#Windows 2000
other=/dev/hdb1
#Note, this may be hdb2, depending on which
#partition you have Win2k installed on
label=wink
table=/dev/hdb
# If you can't boot Win2k, try commenting out
# the table=/dev/hdb with a '#'#Linux
image=/boot/vmlinux
root=/dev/hdb2
label=linux#end
I cannot guarantee that that will work. You'll probably have to edit it to suit your own needs.
Good luck,
Mike

I stumbled upon an extremely well written how-to document pertaining to this.http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue47/deblende.html
It clearly illustrates how and when and where to partition the various OS's. The caveat is that the "How-to" pertains to NT vs Win2K. However, the information should be applicable here. (at the very least, quite informative for newbies)
At least I hope so, because I am about to try and perform the installation as described in the subject of this post.
If anyone in the audience can see a train wreck ahead for me with this can you please head me off.

Thank you all for your responses.
Just as I suspected the solution to my problem seems to be one for two courses of action.
1. Edit the lilo.conf file accordingly
2. Install lilo in the MBR and edit
accordingly.
I am a bit reluctant to use the second option because every bit of help that I have read on this topic warns against installing LILO in the MBR on a computer running Windows NT. I have not found any reference to Win2K specifically so I assume the same applies.
I have seen a similar triple boot arrangement on a coleague's laptop but he has to press "Alt" when his laptop powers up to boot Linux.
ballzach, I know what it's like to work on my computer after a few beer. :>)
