I got an old toshiba satellite t2130cs from
junk. Everything WORKS fine!!!!
SPECS:
dx4 75Mhz, 16 Mb ram, 4.3 Gb
HDD(!!companylaptop!!) presuming 1 Mb
video.


without a doubt i wanna install linux and
use it for development.
Which is the best distro which can optimise
the performance of such low specifications.
Kindly Help.............

I would go with damn small linux. I just installed on a comnpaq lte 5000, p 75 with 40mb of ram and a 2 gb hd. Your going to need to create a swap partition, and even with that I doubt if firefox will open with only 16mb of ram, you will have to use dillo. boot the cd with the option dsl 2, that will get you to in text mode. now type cfidsk, it works similar to window fdisk. I would put the swap partition first, then reboot with the same dsl 2. type mkswap /dev/hda?, ? is the number of the swap partition.
download the newest version 4.2, it has a nice looking interface

also I would do the hard drive install from text mode also, just type dsl-hdinstall, that will begin the install.
