Tiny Linux Floppies

Hey I just installed Tiny Linux on my IBM Thinkpad 355Cs, 486 with 20 megs ram in it. I do not have a way to network this computer with my primary desktop (which I download and make disks with). My question is how do I get the TGZ files that are over 1.44 megs onto my laptop from my desktop. By the way, the thinkpad has no way to really talk to a CD drive. It seems that the Tiny Linux website is rather vague on how to install X windows, and the X windows install site assumes that everyone has an up to date system that will either network or read CDs. I am wonder if a program I have for writing Minix TAZ files will work- this program will split the large TAZ files into several floppies. Anyway I am a newbie to Linux, so any help is appreciated, especially if you can try to walk me through stuff.

You can use the split command to make files into floppy sized chunks. You can then put them back together with cat.
Something you may find useful is and adapter to allow you to take your laptop hard drive out and attach it to your desktop. You can then transfer files across and dump it back into your laptop. The adapters are pretty cheap....
