Comment:

I have a laptop (a Thinkpad 380XD), and for some reason, Linux does not like it. I have tried my Debian, RH8&9, FC1&2&3, and Slackware disks, and isolinix always finds a different error on each disk. Anyone have any sucess w/installing any 2.4 or 2.6 kernel linux let me know, and give me the specifics.

Here is someone who has installed Mandrake 9.1 (2.4 kernel, I believe) on that laptop (380XD).

Good luck.

If you are planning on running KDE or Gnome, get at least another 64 meg of memory, otherwise it will be slow (or shall I say slower, considering it is a 233 mhz machine trying to run a modern distro)

Good luck.

Give mepis a try, it's hardware detection is excelent, I've installed it on a couple of laptops without any of the problems I had with other distros on them (no thinkpads though)
