hello people.

is there a list somewhere with the programs that you need for a minimum (but fully functional) desktop? i want the minimum required for:

window manager
internet stuff (browsing, ftp, email...)
word processing
development/compiling
cdplayer/mp3 etc.

but not like 5 programs that do the same thing. you know what i mean? those distros (on auto install) install like 8 programs for one job when you only need one program.

is there a list of apps like this? so i can do custom install w/o accidently deleting files i need or keeping ones i dont? please say yes.

thanks
