I am running RH v7.2. Every time I connect via telnet, I get the Login and Password prompt, but as soon as it logs in, it fires back a response that "Connection to Host is Lost." I looked in /usr/bin/Setup, and Telnet is running, but Firewall always reads high. When I chnage firewall to medium, and reboot, it still reads high in Setup. Is that my problem? This is a new install, so nothing should be corrupt. Help!

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem:

I get a "connection to host lost" when I try to log in using telnet. Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I am very interested in this..

Thanks.

Jakob

Hi,

After installing Hummingbird Exceed on my local workstation, I can get the same error message when I try to telnet to a linux box.

I uninstalled Exceed and continue to get the problem. I can not ftp to the unix box from this machine either. I get an error message that the connection closed by remote host.

I never get a login prompt for telnet or ftp.

My other machines can telnet and ftp fine.

Any ideas?

clay
