telnet take long time to respond

Telnet from Windows 2000 to Linux 6.0 take very long time to get the logon banner but telneting to Windows server comes quickly.What should I do? Thx in advance

I think you mean Red Hat Linux 6.0.
Have you checked if the telnet server is trying to perform a reverse ip lookup on the windoze client?

How long of a delay is it?
It may be that Win2K telnet client also tries to do NTLM authentication and the telnet server maybe getting confused by it.
I don't have any Linux boxes here at work so I'm not able to test. Although I'm not having trouble from Win2k to AIX or Solaris.

Yes I think this is NTLM authentication confusion.Now it is seems to be every thing works fine. Now I want to connect it to internet through MS Proxy server I know I need to enabel socks proxy runing If you know any way of doing is pls be kind enough to tell me the way and I want to install samba server also.
