Comment:

I have installed redhat linux 7.2 on a machine. From this machine if I telnet a telecom server running some unix. My telnet session hangs after some time and comes up after some time again without doing anything. Seems to be some timout problem.

Surprisingly if I telnet to any other machine then no problem. Also if I telnet from other machine to that telecom server then even no prob.

Prob is only if i use linux machine and second is that telecom server.

This is always a name resolution problem. You'll find ftp behaves the same. Try adding an entry in /etc/hosts for the box you are trying to telnet to. That should get it going.
