I'm attempting to setup telnet services for a linux server I've just created. I see that both the telnet client and server are installed. They both appear to be running as I can telnet to my self and log into my machine (telnet localhost) successfully.
However, when I attempt to connect from a win95 and a win2000 machine on the same network, I cannot connect. Telnet runs for about 10 seconds and then I get an error: (could not open a connection to xx.xx.xx.xxx).
This may be related....I cannot ftp to the Linux box either...I get an error (connection reset by peer)
I'm not a network guy and I am on an internal network not managed by myself. This is a Linux server that I have installed behind the firewall so that I could experiment with shell scripting without being on our Unix servers. I would like to be able to telnet and ftp to this box if possible. Anyone have any ideas on this one?
P.S. I know about telnet security issues...
Thanks,
Steve
