I have attempted many times to install Linux on my Toshiba Tecra 8000. Both Dual boot and clean. I have attempted with Red Hat 6.1, 7.1, and 7.2. SuSe 7.1, and Redmond Linux. All fail in the initial Boot process, though never at the same point. I have gotten to the log in screen once. That froze up after accepting the root password. Any Ideas?

Make sure your hardware is okay, you may have bad RAM in your laptop.

look for "toshiba tecra 8000 linux install" in google.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 4090 XCDT and
had RH 7.1 and 7.2 installed on it without any problems. Also installed Mandrake 8.0 and 8.1 on it, no problems there either.

I'm pretty sure that RH 7.1 and 7.2 should install just fine ( maybe no sound or something like that, but it really should boot up )
