I am new to Linux and i have downloaded some themes for KDE. They are in tar.gz . I read the insatllation instructions and tried installing them under root but they won't work. I am using mandrake 8.1 . I know it's not that hard to do but I can't seem to get it to work.
Any help would be great.
thanks.

Hi. Try right clicking on the icon and choosing "Archiver". After the window opens up with the files showing, click on the "extract to" button on top there. Extract it to /home/yourusername/tmp (or wherever you want to put it).
