Is there a way to create like an iso image file and use this for my linx swap partition. I didn't create a swap partition when I installed ubuntu and now I'm suffering for it.

I have been noticing lately that when I start multiple programs I don't have any memory left and it inevitably crashes. Firefox even though it's a pig shouldn't kill the system, it's linux for cryin outloud, not even opera will run with other programs running. I'm using gnome on ubuntu hardy.

if you have one 60 gig partition, you could use gparted to resize it, creating a couple gigs of free space. Then use the free space to created a swap partition. This is not without risk, if losing you install is unacceptable, do not do it. That being said I have done this with success, in the past. I would reboot in between each step.In other words, resize, then reboot. Then use the free space to create the swap, then reboot.
