Swap file size

OS: Redhat Linux 7.2
CPU/Ram: P4 1200 Xeon, 4GB Ram

My server has 4GB physical memory. When I install Redhat Linux 7.2 i found that the maximum page file I can create is 2GB. Please help as I would like to set the swap file to 8GB.

I've read that there is (or was?) a limitation in Linux that any one file can't be larger than 2GB - see http://kb.redhat.com/view.php?eid=371

Did you put your swap file on its own partition?
