dat was the state of my server before... very extreme case but any way its usually 20% SWAP, just wondering is their any way to TWEAK what is put into SWAP

I'm a little confussed. You posted in the Linux forum but listed XP PRO as your OS.
I don't think you can "TWEAK what is put into SWAP" but I could be wrong. Have you used the top command to look at the running processes? You may find 1 or more processes that need to be looked at and possibly alter their priority via nice or renice.
