Hi,

I downloaded the iso file for the SuSE 8.1 "Live Eval"; verified the MD5 sum, and exploded the files onto a cd using easy cd creator 4. Has anyone tried this release / install? Is it supposed to run entirely off of the cd like Knoppix?

Well, I can't get it to do much of anything. It loads the kernel, drivers, sets up ramdisk, then says something about looking for infodisk(?) then it stops with :
Live eval CD /sbin/init: line 345 (258) illegal instruction perl -pi -e 'si^(SUSEWM_UPDATE=) ... etc etc..
..."Found no usable partition. Your data will not be saved to disk"

It's supposed to use free space in the first partition (in my case C: fat32).

Any suggestions? I created install floppies (bootdisk and module1) from within another distro but it ends up doing the same thing (after taking about ten times as long)

THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!
