Well,
I tried to install SuSE 9.1 personal a while ago on VMware 4.0.0 on windows xp and got the clue that my version was too old for it. So I searched a while and "found" a newer version then mine, exactly the 5.0 BETA and the 4.5.2. Both versions I installed correctly and they were working great with operating systems like windows pe or windows 98.
So here's my problem: When I try to install on a container which is correctly configured for SuSE Linux the green startscreen is coming up, I can take my special configuration for installation and then the other green screen appears correctly. So, after all, when YaST is loading the screen disappears, reappears but in colors like purple or dark blue and I can see it 4 times in a quality where nobody could read anything :(.
What's the problem ? Is VMware as stupid as I think or is it my fault ?pls help me - regards SiyMan

Is there a text mode install you could try for Suse?
Also, running VMware requires a decent chunk of memory - especially since suse is quite bloated as distros go - half gig ram should cover it. Have you tried any other(smaller) distro's? eg an older redhat.
You could try installing Linux and running windowsXP in VMware :^) hehe drastic but vmware always ran better on top of linux IMHO.
Good luck :^)
