Managed to load S.U.S.e 5.3 get to root then password now--what?? None of the commands seem to work,did not allow for a full instalation of all the packages as there was not enough memory,just quick install ----what next none of the commands seem to work.

Depends what you want to do.....possibly upgrade to SuSE v8.2?!=o)
To get a list of available commands, just hit TAB a couple of times. Typing "man man" (without the quotes) might be a start for you. have a look at the HOWTOs as well.
