What is the process for setting up ssh or sftp not sure if they are the same does the distro come default with these capabilities? How can i implement this technology? Where are to config files located and simple commands to start or to mess with ssh/sftp are these different?

SSH and SFTP are normally installed in most distros or can be installed.

Problem with ssh ,,, If you try to have an open ssh connection, connected to the internet, then you will also want to protect that connection from scans,,,
I would also Look into " denyhosts " for protecting against , Known , IP addresses of scans and attacks

MSI 845e mb 1 gb ram and a p4 2.4n running fedora 7 xp ,win 2000 advanced server and win 98 SE alot to learn and I know so little !!!!
