Soundcard problem

CPU/Ram: P4 1.3

I am using RedHat7.2 and my sound card is Creative/Ensoniq AudioPCI 1371. I use sndconfig to config my soundcard. It can detect my card, but when it play sample sound, I can't hear anything.... is the driver available in my computer then? or I needa download? My linux runs without any sound. plx help thanks.

do as root
modprobe soundcore
modprobe es1371
cat /dev/kcore > /dev/dsp

if you hear funny noises after thatyour soundcard needs these two modules.
put the 2 modprobe commands in some startup file for your distro.

sorry, forgot to add, if kcore doesnt exist on your system take any file...like
cat /boot/vmlinz* > /dev/dsp

(but i must admit kcore sounds more interesting than vmlinuz :))

I had the same problem with Mandrake 8.0. sndconfig didn't work either. I chose Pnp OS: No in the BIOS to let the BIOS set the IRQ's and everything worked fine after that.
